I purchased 2 California whites chicks at the local feed store, both white at the time of purchase, but they look nothing alike now. The chicken in questions is very docile, sweet girl. She is starting to develop the side burns like an Araucana, but if you look at the last picture, she has tail feathers; although the first 2 pictures don't look like it. She also has feathers growing down her legs. She is probably about 9-10 weeks in this picture. Any ideas of what she is?

If she has a beard and muffs and a pea comb, probably an Easter Egger.

But... are you sure that's a she?

That patchy coloring and the red on the back are very suspicious...

It's a Faverolles or Faverolles cross/mix. Inclined to think it's a she but very unsually colored one. I can see why some might roo but the breed has color genetics not really found in most other breeds. Possible it may turn out to be slow maturing roo though.

I say Faverolles due to white skin(white legs), with feathering plus extra toe. Very few breeds have this type of leg/toe.

Good call on the toe. I missed it!

She is a Faverolle pullet - has 5 toes. I believe she is a pullet based on the way she holds herself...more horizonal than vertical (like a rooster). She is a sweet as can be. I think I may have found another favorite breed!

100% pullet. A cockerel would have much more black on the chest and a larger comb. Welcome to the Faverolles club! It's the only breed I have.
