So we have these chicks in the brooder. DD plays with them all the time. She recently lost her favorite rooster outside, so these chicks are getting the full brunt of her love. So, this morning I get up, go over look at the chicks..... What the? Looks like the white frizzled bantam cochin is bleeding all over the top of his wing and neck. (I'm thinking... well I'm thinking a whole lot of things not to mention, oh crap I hope this chicken is ok!) I get to looking closer... phewwww! Someone had pooped on him (the white chick, of course, someone has to poop on the big white chick). And he had smeared it to kingdom come.
So I go in and get the water warming... get the dog shampoo out.. now the dog's afraid of me, thinks he's getting a bath. Grab said chick and we commence to chick bathing. Once I figured out I needed to hold his wings down things went much more smoothly.
So then what do you do after bathing your chick? Well, you then have to trot off to the bathroom and commence to blow drying your chick (can't have the little bugger getting cold). He actually seemed to like the blow drying just kind of sat there nodding off.
So now he's one fresh as a daisy chick and DD is none the wiser. Drama averted!
