Hey all, The internet wasn't such a big thing in my life when I last had chooks, so I never joined any forums before. Now I can finally have chooks again and I'm looking forward to participating here.

Previously we started with Silkies, added some Pekins to the mix, a legbar roo who gave us legbar silkie mixes that were some of the best layers we ever had. And then we added some Arrucanas to the flock. I confess to having a thing for the green shelled eggs.

This time round we started yesterday with a mixed box of 11 chicks we got at melton mowbray fur and feather auction. It looks like we have maybe a legbar, possibly 4 cuckoo marans, 2 naked necks and the other 4 I have no idea as yet. Fingers crossed for as many pullets as possible instead of roos as we are in a no roo zone and they will have to go :(

Before I get clobbered off the forums I'll confess now, I didn't get either pies nor Stilton yuck to both!

I think they are maybe 2-3 weeks old once they have settled into the brooder I'll get some pics and see if anyone can help sex ands identify breeds, going to have a go at vent sexing but I'm not hopeful of getting that very accurate, am far too rusty in chooks after so long away.

:welcome
It sounds like you picked up a nice mixture of chicks!
I hope they are ALL pullets!
I am also enthralled with the blue and green shelled eggs!
Sorry about all the exclamation points!
