I'm so happy they made it there & you had 13 hatch. That was the first time I have ever sent eggs!
Looking forward to seeing the baby alpacas!

Cool! They were packaged very well. Not a one of them were broken or cracked or shaken up in any way. All of them developed, but I had a few that developed blood rings and only 1 of the 14 remaining eggs to not hatch.
I do have some sad news, however. I allowed a friend to borrow a camera and she returned it with a broken lens. It is very obvious that it had been dropped and she didn't bother telling me that it had been damaged. So yesterday I took it to my little sister's college graduation and discovered that the lens would no longer focus or zoom in. I was very upset - not at the fact that the camera would not work so to speak, but because I missed getting those pictures of her accomplishing that milestone in her life. So, to make a long story short, a new camera is on my Christmas list and I can't get any pictures of the new babies.
My eggs have only been in the bator for 48 hours, and I'm dying to candle them! Slapping my hands to make me leave them alone a few more days.
I had to set them a bit late because we had a water heater disaster that took my full attention and also kept the power off and on for a week, so I didn't dare set them till things were more stable, but I'm hopeful the eggs will still do okay in spite of that. After all, hens spend a couple of weeks laying a clutch before they set, so some are pretty old by then and still work. I put some of our hens eggs in too, to up the chances of getting some New Years chickies!
I got my eggs last week and had 50 quail eggs in the bator (thought I had timed the quail & the swap but as life happens, they didn't match up). My eggs are now on day 5 (I think). Looking forward to seeing what I get. Nobody has even given me a good hint except to say they are chicken.

I'm so glad!! That's a great result! I feed the girls 1/2 Layena 1/2 Manna Pro Game Bird this time of year, and they get lots of organic veggies, all the grass they can scrounge, and the normal yogurt/oatmeal/old salmon treats. I do give them vitamins and electrolytes in every third waterer, and watch their condition like a worried mommy. I am certain higher protein gives a better hatching egg.
