Oh!! Congrats!Sorry I did not read your post till now. Since I did not sleep all night, I decided to take a nap for almost 3 hrs. Woke up, asked my son to help lift the broody and picked up the chick. seems like she had rescued him from the egg shell but the membranes were stuck on his back. So I soaked an eye glass cleaning cloth with hot water and wrapped it in for a few minutes. Then gently and slowly took pieces of membrane off by breaking it. I had to make sure that I did not pull the umbilical cord or the skin in the process. Finally after some 15 minutes, it was membrane free. All it wanted is to snuggle with me so I put it back with mama to dry.
Here are some pics. I think its a girl. She is a CL X RIR

Oh wow I'm SO EGGCited!!!
Ok. I did my Day 8 Candling ( candled day 6... skipped 7 and was planning on culling obvious clears today)
SOOooo... I thought I had no Black/Blue Copper Marans developing... But I have AT LEAST one! I have 5 others that I left in the bator. Two of them I can see ABSOLUTELY nothing (my darkest eggs)... but one of the medium ones I saw movement.. Can't see any veining.. but I caught a glimpse of movement and almost dropped the egg- I was so estatic! I watched for a good minute to make sure I wasn't moving anything and no... it was definite embryo giggling. So I left all Maran eggs in.
My styrofoam Temp Spike on day 5 definitely killed at least one egg. Confirmed with autopsy. All other eggs I removed were completely clear. One other was iffy so I moved it to the Brinsea.
So my Current Developing Tally on SHIPPED EGGS is 16 of 34 Set:
3 Blue Isbars ( with movement)
1 Black/Blue Copper Maran ( with Movement) + 5 others I can't see anything
3 Olive Eggers (Isbar/Maran Crosses)
2 Blue/Black/Splash Jersy Giants ( One with Movement) + 1 Iffy
3 Seramas (2 with Movement)
I kept my two Mutt eggs in the Styrofoam Bator and filled it with sponges in distilled water and have the Humidilty to about 70-75% and Locked Her Down... Only have seen movement from inside one of the two... so I'm kinda nervous about a solo chick. We shall see in the next few days. Day 21 is Wednesday.

Babies Babies Everywhere!!!! Remind me what breed?
I was at church for two hours and came home to this fella! Wasn't even externally pipped when we left! Ambitious one! And it for sure wasn't. I removed the three babies this morning and double checked to make sure I didn't mess anyone up if they'd externally pipped. Crazy! The other two have pipped as well now!
Babies Babies Everywhere!!!! Remind me what breed?
I have secured a Easter Egger and a Barred Rock chick (had to get both if I got one) for Buddies if my mutts hatch. So... crisis averted.
Are these the Orpingtons?
