November Hatch-A-Long (2014)

Yeah... that hadn't occurred to me for you guys. No danger of that here as I'm thoroughly glued to that incubator for the little peeper, there's no way I'll be missing a pip. My back up strategy once that bowl has to come out is soaking the washcloths with a large syringe I can poke through the top of the aquaribator. Modify strategies as needed!

I was given the idea to soak a diaper and put it in the bator for lockdown and it worked great. And the chicks can't drown :)

You can always put marbles/pebbles in the water to the brim. My incubator chicks hatch and climb right into the water bowl so they will drown if unattended.

My final count was 4 of the 5 eggs that went to lock-down. I am considering myself very lucky considering the Day 20 disaster. 1 egg did not pip and I did not do an eggtopsy.

So finally I have 4.
1 Legbar
2 x CL x Red Star Hybrids
1 x CL x RIR Hybrid

Here is a picture of all 4 together

The one looks so tiny compared to the other three. they are adorable!

Once I entered that egg this morning I jacked the humidity way up. I placed two wet washcloths in, draped over the back of the tank. I placed the lower end of the washcloths into a bowl of hot water that I've been

slowly refilling all night. The washcloths worked as a wick to constantly draw water from the bowl and into the air. After not being able to pass 50% humidity, I jacked it all the way up to 75% last night. Something similar might work for you.

that sounds like a great idea! Ill see what I can do to set that up quickly. I turned the eggs a few minutes ago and then stared at them a minute, they all started wiggling one by one!!

Junibutt your babies are beautiful! Congrats!
