we have a hen house that is 10' x 12' and about 12' high and it's well vented, but when it gets over 100 outside it seems hotter in the coop. we made a yard just for them and a lot of the time they will sit inside and swelter instead of going outside in the shade. so i chase them out and shut the door when it's that hot. we have some baby chickens, turkeys and guineas that are too little to let them run with the grownups so we have been putting a fan on them during the day and it seems to be working ok. next summer im thinking about getting a mist-er for them.
