Several days ago some of you guys may know I put up a thread asking about what to do since I ran out of starter. My dad once again went out and bought some himself without telling me... he bought the 40 pound scratch and peck starter feed(yayyy!) Oh my... how might I tell him that I needed him to buy the grower feed? :barnie Can I just continue feeding it for grower?

Yeah Dad! If memory serves me, you had 5 or perhaps 6 week old chicks right? Grower feeds are usually offered at about 10 weeks; Grower typically has less protein than starter, so if the chick feed stretches beyond 10 weeks, no worries, go ahead and feed it til it's gone. While on the topic of feed, make sure to specify what type of grower feed you're looking for; broiler grower is completely different from plain grower... If you're going to EAT these birds, then by all means get the broiler grower, fat birds fast... but totally not healthy for birds you intend to have for years to come for eggs or breeding, fat hens typically end up with reproductive disorders (often fatal).

You don't need grower feed. Use the starter and thank dad for getting it.
I already did :D. When he came back with scratch and peck feeds I asked him how much it cost and he just said, "$50, not that expensive, it's ORGANIC. ":lau
