Now I have chickens?

Welcome to BYC! Sounds like you've already had the pleasure of experiencing chicken love :) I say, keep the 12 chicks you have. Your bound to end up with extra roos that you'll have to get rid of later. As someone mentioned earlier, chicken math will hit you. You'll probably need a bigger coop lol

PS always beware of neighbors, etc. bearing free chickens . Generally it will be a box full of cockerels - notice he beat a speedy retreat. Probably won't answer the phone or door either for quite awhile.

But, we are thrilled to have you in the Backyard chickens flock.:celebrate
LOL. There were 7. We have 3 now. He has taken them back to join his flock. One came with our lavender Orpington's. In total we now have 11.

Moving on to the forums now. See what I can see. Have had two orphingtons pass about two week apart. Exact same thing. Seems fine, within 24 hrs weak, and lethargic, stops eating and drinking then dies suddenly. What can kill so fast and seem to pick on one at a time.
6 month old birds, only the orpfies affected?
Could it be a injury?

Stop by the emergencies forum and describe in detail what you're seeing.
Did you check them for mites?
What's their poop like?
There are a few fast movers out there--but best if you're getting advice from one of the experts. best of luck and sorry for your losses
