How common is it to find red 250 watt bulbs with ceramic fixtures? Do they come standard like that in the feed store? And if not, where is a good place to find them?

I bought mine at TSC, ceramic was my only option. They had a plentiful supply since chick days were approaching. All came with the wire "cages" to protect the bulb.

i dont have red bulbs as we are using white/clear. but we did get our light fixture at TSC for only 8.99 and the part you screw the bulb into is ceramic!

This is exactly what ours looks like with a different colored cable. But the part you screw the heat lamp into is ceramic. Mine are currently double/triple secured in place by wires and hanging by their cords but after tonite I'll re-attach the little metallic "hook" style holder you see in the pic and wire that as well.

Although I highly doubt the power cord would ever become detached from the lamp and fall it's better to be safe than sorry.

Awesome! They must come standard then. That is a relief. I will ask at the feed store I am going to if they have them.
