We always let our hens out for an hour or so in the evenings. Our lab/husky (who is old) normally either sniffs around the west end of our property or sacks out in the shade.
This evening, one hen Amelia straggled behind the others and quite haplessly, our dog Blaze trotted between Amelia and the others. For some reason, Amelia raised her hackles and strutted at Blaze. The dog, who is quite indifferent to the hens, got a startled look and backed off. Amelia, to press her advantage, kept her hackles flared and charged at Blaze who ran away from her. Amelia probably only chased her about two yards, but it was rather funny watching our medium sized dog chased by a rather young hen!
