Now What Should I do?

I waited until I got home to finish zipping the shrink wrapped chicks. After the zipping, I put them back in the bator. It's been 4 hours. . . should I finish the hatching for them? It appears as though the yolk has been absorbed, and when zipping them, there was no blood.

That's what I did. On some there was still a little trailing stuff from their belly. Not a lot but I had noticed it on chicks that hatched out all on their own and it dried up within 1/2 hr at most. Just be careful and go slow keep the membrane moist with warm water drops but not a lot, just enough so nothing tears.

I just lost one from shrinkwrapping. Have you wrapped them in wet warm washcloths? You need to get the humidity UP on the membrane under the shell. A dry membrane is white. A wet one is transparent.
I find the ones that shrinkwrap don't dry well because of the birthing fluids drying on the feathers.
good luck

I found that too. Fortunately I have several broody hens that will take as many babies you can toss at them (18 under 1 right now) and if you put the baby once it has dried but not fluffed up, under a hen (if she accepts it) it will fluff right up.

Thank you- I don't have a broody darn it.

I carefully removed the stuck shells. Geez that was a hard process! One still has its wing glued down but I thought I would do more harm than good trying to un-stick it. They're all peeping in the bator. Keep your fingers crossed they make it.

You can get the sticky off later with warm water and a cloth. Good job saving those babies! I had to do that with 3 ducks earlier today.

Let's hope I did save them! We'll see in the morning. They are sure making a racket in there- and one is so happy to be free, it won't sit still! I can hear it zooming around in there. Good job on your ducklings- I'll check back tomorrow to see how they are doing.
