Hello everyone,

Has anyone ever got NPIP certified in NYC? If so, how easy is it, and what are the details?

First off :welcome second off @Nabiki is certified but not in nyc i dont think but can probably give u a rundown of how it works and maybe knows who on here is in nyc and has npip good luck

@Kiki too i think is certified

I have my CA egg handlers license. I'm on a waiting list for NPIP. I've been on the waiting list for about 6 months so far.
Are you from a densely populated area, and if you know, how likely do large cities offer NPIP? (I can't find any NYC city regulations mentioning it, but NY state has the program)

Thanks!

I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area, but I'm in a suburb. In CA, there is a subsidized small flock option. That's the waiting list I'm on. It shouldn't matter where you are as long as you are meeting the requirements. Check your city ordinances on how many birds you can have, though. In my town I'm only allowed to have 20.

Cuz of covid u would say ? Or is that normal?
The waiting list was huge even before COVID-19. It has more to do with the New Castle's outbreak that lasted for quite some time in Southern CA and a shortage of vaccine.

The laws state " No person shall keep a live rooster, duck, goose or turkey in the City of New York," That seems really positive for me. + NY state considers coturnix to not be a game bird.

I am still looking for people who NPIP certified some poultry in NYC so I could get more specific info.
Call these people:
