NPIP certification

The fee and procedure are different in every state. For instance, in TN it's a $25 flat fee -- but in California I've heard it costs as much as $300!

Most states want to encourage backyard flocks to get NPIP, so it is usually pretty cheap. Call your state department of agriculture, and they'll direct you towards the right people.

Thanks, I will do that next week and get things rolling so I can sell hatching eggs with less worry knowing I have done all that is possible to provide safe chicks!

The
link for NPIP is no longer valid, but there should be someone there you can contact. Here in AK it's free for most of the testing as it is subsidized by USDA and the State. Minimal fees for other tests.
If you're just selling the eggs for eating you probably don't need it. It's for shipping eggs out of state, and if you plan on showing your birds you will eventually have to have them tested before they'll let you on the showgrounds.
Good luck!

It Costs $ 9.00 in Alabama and they test for Pullorum Typhoid and monitor for Avian Influenza.
Most States use the Department of Agriculture to administer the program.

Hi,
you would think if they think its that important they would have the link working.
Is there anyplace else to look for what you need to do?
Thanks,
