Hey everybody, I’m Nick from MN, just bought my first two chickens today. They are a pair of Easter egger chicks. I am getting 2 whiting true blues and 2 beilefielders tomorrow. I also have 6 Rhode Island Reds set to be picked up June 1st. I am building my own coop in my yard. Trying to get my young son involved with me. Can’t wait to see all the interesting info this forum has to offer.

Welcome. I am so happy you are building your own coop. We are not fans of pre-manufactured coops here. We find them way too small and without enough ventilation. Go big with your coop - as @DobieLover says "twice as big as you think you need". You won't be sorry.

You need a bigger brooder! Those chicks are going to overheat in that brooder. You really want something with as much ventilation as you can possibly get and plastic traps heat. Overheated chicks are very prone to getting pasty butt which can kill them.
Also it looks like that heat lamp is only clipped to the ladder leaning over the brooder. That's not secure enough. It can easily come loose, fall into the brooder and catch fire.
