Nubians

I just love goats. Your girls are cute. Nubians are one of my favorite breed next to the mini Nubians.

awesomefowl- You'll have to post some pictures! Thank you all a bunch. I feel better if I decide to keep her and breed her.

I have another problem, I had a heat lamp on them since Sunday night and turned it off yesterday when it was a little warmer, well they were over there shivering this morning so I turned it back on. The problem is my dad is a fire-fighter and well you know how that goes paranoid of fires.....which led me to being paranoid as well....do they really need it? It about 35 degrees outside and they are in a barn. My dad is scared to death (me too) of burning the barn down! What to do what to do!!!!

I don't have any heat lamps on my goats even the two week old kid. She stays in a pen in the mini barn outside when it was 33 as the low and is doing just fine. I do have heat lamps on in the shed on my chicks but she doesn't have one on her.

Since she had the heat lamp, she just needs time to get use to the cold, I don't use lamps, and they kids Jan/feb. I give mine a small, tote, dog house, something they can hundle in with no wind.

The little dark brown doeling isn't feeling good....she's got a minor cough and she's shivering....I can't keep the heat lamp on in the barn. I just de-wormed them today. I guess it could be from the hay but I don't want to take any chances since I just lost one of my bottle lambs....I've been soo paranoid about my babies...I love my babies like they are my kids! I hope someone can help me!!

Have you taken her temperature? How is she today? Other than the cough and shivering is she off feed or water?

Do you have any old human kid size sweaters or fleeces you could put them in? Are you able to use non-electric heat mats? I've seen mats similar to those hand warmers at outdoor shops - you just open it up, shake it around a bit and it automatically warms up.
