Just got myself 6 new chicks, all hens. Im in the process of designing/ constructing a coop. My question is, do I need a nesting box for each chick ( total 6)? or can I get away with less?

Just curious

The general rule of thumb is one next box for every 3 to 4 hens. So, I'd suggest you have two next boxes for your six girls.

Great, thanks for the quick response

Yep, 2 will do you

Of course, you're eventually going to end up with more chickens LOL so you may as well build 3 so you don't have to add more later.

Yep, good advice! I had my husband build 6 because I knew I'd be getting more chickens. Lol he didn't and had no idea how many boxes were needed per chicken
