Hi BYC Friends!
I know that the common ration people stick to for Coturnix quail is 1:5, with about 3 quail per square foot minimum. My question is, if we are using a box hutch with an attached run, are we only basing the number of quail that can fit at one time in the closed in hutch area, or are we including the square footage of the run area as well?
My hutches are going to be 2x2 feet (4 square) inside the box area, and they also have a 2x2 (4 square) foot open air attached run. *Total of 8 square feet.
I would like to avoid overcrowding, but want to make them as productive as possible.
Thanks in advance for your input!!
