We used some very early on when we were making guesses on the sexes of our chicks. I didn't like them all that much. It wasn't something I do easily do by myself and cutting them off made me nervous. I wasn't using tiny ones though...just what TSC had available and they seemed really cumbersome on the tiny legs. And yes, if you don't catch them soon enough they get really tight quickly. Making it even scarier to cut off for me. While they were young we switched over to colored elastic bands for kids hair. But they get lost pretty easily.

Yes, I'm a Floridian. I live near Ocala in Citrus County. Years ago I would drive over to Jacksonville to go to the Bent Creek Feed swap, but it is a 2 hr drive over and a 2 hr drive back home.
