Well we are 5 weeks in and the numbers look horrible at the moment.... we lost 26 out of 200 which is horrendous!! Plagued with piling this time around.

Birds are hot and still want to sleep right on top of each other. I finally have them sleeping scattered through out the tractor.

Anyone have any tips on keeping the birds from piling in the tractor at night? It's only for the first hour and then they settle down. I find myself out with them everynight to make sure I don't lose anymore... with 170 sold I'm looking at only 4 left to lose!!

Next ones will be here the 30th of this month so we will see if I can do better....

Ours don't pile if they have a light on them. Of course, ours are Colored Rangers so maybe ours experience doesn't transfer. A 60 watt bulb only costs about 5 - 10 cents a night to run ... at least around here.

Can you run an extension cord out there and put a fan on them?

I also leave my heat lamp on.

I start with two lights and as it warms up and they grow out I turn one off.
