numerous things wrong with barred rock

Our barred rock has been showing signs of illness which are:
1. She can't balance herself
2. She keeps on kicking out her legs
3. She is making painful noises
4. She is constantly sitting down

Any feedback would be great.

How old is your chicken? How long have you had her? Any new chickens brought in lately?

Please answer these questions as this may help in determining the cause of the problem. Right off, there are 3 things that come to mind: Marek's, Coccidiosis and a Vitamin Deficiency.

Please give us as much information as you possibly can...age, length of illness, food, treats? Anything else that's new?

In the meantime, you could be collecting some of the things you may need...

Coccidiosis...Corid
Vitamin deficiency...poly vi sol, without iron and 400 iu Vitamin E tablets
Marek's..nothing but prayer, sorry

Try giving your BR vitamin B complex. Buy a bottle of vitamin B complex tablets at any pharmacy. Then crush a few into powder and sprinkle the powder onto her feed for her to eat. Do this for 1 week. Hopefully you'll see improvement soon thereafter.
