You should go with a thermometer that you have calibrated, here's instructions on how to do this:

I've always trusted my thermometers after I've gone through and calibrated them and never had any issues off the hatches I've done in my nutureright. Fortunately mine in the past has been spot on with temperature so maybe this one just has some breaking in to do
