Nutrena chick starter for silkies- 24% protein

Looking for any comments about this starter feed for silkies or Polish. It does have a higher protein content than other feeds.

Sounds like a great feed, my only gripe is it isn't in a bigger bag, even just a few chicks will go through a lot of feed and a big bag will be cheaper long term

I can't speak to Silkies specifically (I don't think anyone can, I've never seen a feed study on one) but all my hatchlings are raised on a 24% CP feed w/ very good Met and Lys numbers. I'm pleased enough with the results that I continue to pay extra for that feed through their first 8-10 weeks.

Does it result in waste protein and extra ammonia? Probably, but my coops are well ventilated, I've never noticed. Have I found the results more beneficial than an 18% starter feed, also available to me, from the same MFG? Yes, yes I have. Which is why I continue to pay the extra $2.50/50# bag

Yes that's it! Have been reading about it . Apparently it helps a lot with a fuller feather formation.

Mine are big chicks. 7 hatched Feb 14, so 3 weeks old. They just finished the first bag yesterday.
I think there was a lot less waste, they seemed to feather in quicker, and some are showing feather sheen very early.
