I keep my feed in a galvanized feed bin in a cool, dry garage. Nutrena has been my feed of choice because of the smaller pellets. But, since early this year, I've found debris that appears to be recycling material (fibrousy blue stuff woven into the pellets and hard pieces of wood) and the feed, itself, is warm upon opening the bag. I've contacted the company several times, sent photos, etc., but they won't tell me what chemical or additive makes it so hot. I just bought another bag and after pouring it into my bin and letting it sit overnight, I could not believe the heat when I removed the lid! My chickens have been looking ragged lately and eggs are'nt as well formed and abundant as usual. The hens seem to be more irritable with one another, too.

Has anyone had feed problems with Nutrena products? I have lost my trust in this co. and am afraid to use this feed anymore.

I would send them a sample for analysis. If they won't do that for you, then switch companies.

I use plastic bins because it gets so hot and humid here that metal containers will sweat, spoiling the feed.

Just felt the 2nd bag of the three I bought and I can feel the heat from thia bag and the one near it. Neither are opened, so I'm hoping I can get credit toward Purina. This is a lot of trouble and the 3rd batch I have bought recently. The date is recent and they said it should be fine for 60 days. Not.

I have a few 30 gallon Rubbermaid trashcans with lids that I think I will start using.
