I recently went to the store to restock my chicken feed. I paid for 3 50lb bags of unmedicated chick grower, and 2 bags of medicated chick grower. I've been giving my whole flock the unmedicated with a side of oyster shells since they're currently raising chicks. I've been giving my separate chicks the medicated kind with the intention to keep them on it for another month before switching.
Well.. I got the medicated chick starter, but when I went to unload everything I found that I'd mistakenly been given poultry feed instead of the unmedicated chick grower I asked for. Not chick feed, finisher feed, layer feed, just... poultry feed. I didn't check to see if it was pellets or crumbles yet, but it's definitely not what I asked for and it's bothering me.
I gave my birds the last of the unmedicated feed I had left, and now will have to make another run to pick up more.
But what the heck is poultry feed? I've been relying on labels to tell me what feed is good for what and now this one is just- what is it? What birds is it good for? Is it any good at all?
It's the same brand I've been getting for my birds, but it's just such a generic kind. If I actually knew what was required for the birds reading the ingredients would help, but since I don't do any of you have experience using Nutrena poultry feed?
