My Sizzle hen decided to go broody several months ago (October I think), so I got 10 Violet and Chocolate Guinea eggs for her to sit on. She successfully hatched out 4 keets, but one baby fell out of the nest a either got trampled or too cold. Then one of the keets was out of the nest and almost dead, but with lots of prayers and rubbing the lil thing revived. Now the remaining three keets are about a month old.

I had to take all the keets away from her, so I gave her 7 duck eggs to sit on, one egg died several wks into it, she hatched out 5 and is still sitting on one egg. She is a much better mother to the ducklings, than she was to the keets. She is a very special chook.

(pictures of the keets momma chicken hatched out are below...)

The lil keet that was "brought back to life" is the one sleeping in the left hand corner of the picture...it's name is Miracle.

She set 11 egg out of which 4 were infertile, 1 died in the last day of incubation, and she hatched the other 6.

I had 21 hatched in an homemade incubator and gave all of them to her so she has 27 chicks now, and she is caring for them all for 3 days

Here she is giving lecture to all the children

Tansy got broody right after taking her last eggs from her for the Hatch. I never saw her breeding until the last 4 days and got the eggs then. She most have laid 14 all together but refridgerated them thinking infertile! I told her she can have all the next batch for herself. I got bit for my picture taking. She is a bit PUT off with me!
