Besides that, my mom keeps selling all the good beginner horses, so they don't have any now anyway.

I know, right!?! I keep telling my mom she needs to get a pony for the girls. She keeps saying "why, when we can get a big horse that everyone can ride?" Yes, but mom, when you are 8 or 5, that is a long ways up. The confidence level is just so much higher when you are on an animal that is more your size. (At least it was that way for me.) Besides that, they are so stinking cute!

The last time I talked to her, she did say if I got one, I could keep it on their farm for free. So, I am thinking I might get one this spring. The only problem is that my folks live 2 hours away, so we don't get to spend as much time there as I would like.
I strated my daughter off on a mini, then a pony, then her Qaurter pony. Ponies are smaller, but they can have ATTITUDE!!!! Her pony was a huge snot. Way harder to ride than any horse we have ever owned, but she is an awesome rider today because of everything he put her through.

My sons, on the other hand, never had much interest in the ponies... Maybe it is a boy thing. My youngest didn't hardly ever ride his mini, but he promised me he would ride if I got him a horse. I took a chance and got him a 16h QH, and they are a perfect match! He rides all the time and works really hard to learn and become a better rider. And yes, he has fallen off... Got thrown into the gate at their first show because Cash stopped fast and he didn't have a very good seat yet! But he gets back on like a trooper and tries again... An added bonus is that if his horse needs a little tune-up, I can get on and fix it. Although, my daughter has kind of taken over that job now. At 13, she can give any horse an attitude adjustment! (Thanks snotty little grey pony!!)
