This is the picture I put on my Christmas cards this year. My kids and me at a horse show this summer in Grand Rapids, MN
The horse my oldest son is riding (2nd from left) is 29 years old! His name is Amigo and this was one of his last shows. He still LOVES to run, and he would if we asked him to, but it takes him too long to recover from a show. He's a barrel racer, and he gives his entire being every time he's in an arena. Even at 29, he was still running competetively... Love that horse!
My youngest son (far left) is on his Quarter Horse, Cash. He's a great horse that goes at the pace his rider can handle. He and Arthur are growing so well as a team. This coming summer, they are going to be so much fun to watch!!
My daughter (2nd from the right) is on her 19 year old Quarter pony, Tootsie Roll. They are a great team! I had a 4H judge, after watching them run, come to me and tell me "That horse loves her." Not "she loves that horse", but "that horse loves her". She could see the bond they have and how Tootsie is willing to give everything he has for her. My daughter is growing into quite the young horsewoman, and it brings tears to my eyes to watch them run...
And that's me and my Smoke on the end... He's a big beautiful Paint gelding. I love that horse more than words. He was my therapy and my sanity after my husband died. I trust him with my life every time I get on, and he, in turn, gives me his heart and soul...
I am so blessed to have all of my children loving their horses and loving to ride!!
