Yesterday my son and I went to the feed store for seeds to plant in the veggie garden. We left with the seeds and you guessed it... more chicks! At least a tiny bit of self restraint was shown. He came home with one Black Giant and I came home with one Barred Rock. The flock now numbers 13 : 7 mature Buff Orpingtons, 4 Americanas, 1 Black Giant and 1 Barred Rock chicks.

Chickenmom, I know the feeling. Was going to get shavings and chick feed Saturday and asked my grandson if he'd like to go and see the baby chicks. My son said, "Ur not going to get more chickens are you?" then got his shoes on and went with us! LOL Think he was afraid to let us go unsupervised. He's afraid he'll have to help me build another coop this spring!

GoPups the Americanas are 2 wks. old.

Glad you all like them and just kidding about getting a grip. Life is much more fun on the slippery side of the slope!

I went to the feed store to get more layer pellets and just felt the need to ask about chicks...

They didn't have them yet, but are getting Goldstars and Buff Orps in the first batch.
