O.K. now I have TWO chickens in the house!

I have had sick chooks and tried to find out from the message board what it could possibly be and I am begining to think that sick chickens all look about the same. Seems hard to tell exactly what it is cause the signs look similar. I talked to a vet at cornell a while back and he said that any sick chicken that comes into the clinic automatically gets dewormed. I hope it works out for you and your house chooks. Keep em eating and drinking, can try pro-biotics (yogurt) those never hurt (but may not help). Sorry I'm not much help.

Okay, don't panic, I'm sure things are not as bad as they seem right now!
Worms could be a definite possibility--did you actually see a worm (sounds like you are unsure..)? If not, I would have a fecal float done at a local vet. Does the EE seem quite ill? Is she tucked up and lethargic? If not, I doubt she is eggbound. Often times the area under the vent seems poofy, especially if it has been irritated by poo. I had one hen that always had a pooey butt, but since her molt, she's been okay.

Don't do anything drastic tonight, in the morning things will seem better, I'm sure.

thanks everyone, I am taking a composite poop sample to a vet I found that will see livestock. I'm pretty sure it's worms. Definitely nothing drastic tonight!

Chookchick, after what you have said maybe she's not eggbound, she's kind of old (not sure how old) and I'm not even sure if she's still laying. I have her in the house tonight in a crate in my downstairs bathroom. She isn't lethargic at all and eats pretty good when I give her food. She actually looks pretty comfortable, maybe she heard about the special treatment Kate Smith is getting and said "hey! give me some of that!"
