I’m looking for ideas on how to replace the heating unit on an old Oakes No 801 brooder. Any help would be appreciated.

I had to look up that brooder. What I did find, (limited) is the heater looked like a light bulb. There was also a tag on back where the cord attaches, with a wattage value stamped. I was not able to read it.
Maybe you can on yours??
Then opt for the equal wattage amount using the ceramic heater bulbs.

Shield it as necessary, so chicks are not able to touch it. They will adjust their distance to it as needed for their comfort.
This is the simplest option in my mind to resurrect an older brooder.
