For some time I have been wanting to get an oatmeal roller. Some places I have looked online they call them a flaker. Are these the same thing? There is no comparison between freshly ground whole wheat and what you can get in the store and I assume the same holds true for freshly rolled oats. So here are my questions (including the one above):

1-What do you really call those machines that roll whole oat groats?

2-What brand do you have?

3-Do you remember what you paid?

4-Was it worth it?

5-Where is a the best place to get one?

6-Where do you get whole oat groats?

7-Any tips or other ideas about this?

Thanks for any light you can shed on this for me.

I don't have your answers, except to say a roller mill is used typically for oats. I have access to a small roller mill with 4 or 6" rollers on it. They run around $1500-$2000 new.

Thanks Grey,
I was looking at some online and they are in the 100-300 dollar range...didn't know if they really were up to the job or not.

Anyone else know anything about these?
