You don't have to. Mine prefer it uncooked.

I make extra oatmeal - the original 5 minute rolled oats - every time we have it for breakfast. Then I mix it with bird seed and give it to the chickens. They LOVE it.

Mine absolutely love oatmeal, cooked or uncooked. Tops the list as a treat.

I think they ended up eating some of it. Probably gave them a little too much for their first day.

I might try cooking some for them on another day.
