My neighbor just gave me 50 lb of oats for my chickns from a crop he grew just down the road from my house. (This came when I gave him a dozen eggs to endear him to my hens and my crowing rooster ---clearly it worked

). I give my chickens scratch, a handful or so a day to give them something to do in the run. Any problem substituting the oats for the Purina scratch? Or is there a better way to use them?

My chickens love oats. Throw them for scratch or we add them to yogurt. They looove yogurt with oats in it.

Soak them in hot water over night & drain the water off in the morning & feed them they love them, realy good for them in the summer.

My scratch mix is 50/50 whole oats and cracked corn. They love it. When they are done, they go clean up after the horses, so they eat their oats too.
