hey y'all!
I have 5 backyard girls, free range inthe day, locked in the coop at night. It was always a goal of mine to have my own chickens and now the goal is to not end up with more than 15
I live in hockley TX, I have 2 sons and my fiance, we just bought our first home this year and the first thing on my mind was getting a big coop built (I'll post a picture later)
My dogs accepted the hens pretty easily, I have a lab and a German shepherd. My lab seems to have more of a herding interest. He doesn't hurt them, he just thinks they're fun to tease sometimes.
I love to crochet and I care very much about animals rights.
I dont know the girls specific breeds, my oldest and only layer is black and she lays small green eggs. I can get some good pictures and maybe y'all can help me figure them out??
I love having chickens because I feel like they give me a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day and I love walking out to a new egg and eating breakfast that my girls made.

I would love to see your set up! And definitely post the breed pictures in the forum, there are so many nice chicken lovers who would be waaaay more knowledgeable on breeds and happy to help. I'm definitely interested
