Ocellated Turkeys?

So a friend of mine, saw them in a book and got my interest stirred up. I googled them, but alas nothing really showed up in the search.

Are these not raised in captivity at all? It is a legal thing, or what?

They are very hard to come by and very expensive. Think downpayment on a very small house.

Go to Feathersite. Go down to Turkeys. Look at ALL of the BEAUTIFUL varieties/colors!!! Wow!!!

I have a slightly less exotic turkey quest. I want to raise some of the Goulds/mexican variety of north american wild turkeys. Have not found a source. Help!!!!! Threadjack sorry.

The Ocellated is an incredible looking bird that I would love to learn more about but if $$$$$ then there are so many other beautiful heritage breeds and virtually infinite other types of reasonably priced poultry to learn about and raise.
Hope you get lucky and find some Occelated stock without having to sell an organ.LOL.
