100 quail? My goodness! You must be very busy. Not sure how you do it all - I can barely get out of bed without my coffee LOL

now there is no chance of rain with highs in the 60's! Talk about a wonderful day to come out and enjoy the weather and chickens. We will have 10 or so guineas, 4 ducks mixed with black swedish, a tourlous goose, and about 150 chicks ranging from 3 weeks-2 1/2 months. Also may bring some maran eggs if they lay enought between now and then. Black copper (valentine lines), wheaten marans, and some blue marans. May have a rooster or two for sale as well.

Brandon

I will have barred rock, white leghorn, cochin, silver laced wyandotte and a few other breeds that I would have to check and see but mostly barred rock, white leghorn, and silver laced wyandotte! The ones that are 2 1/2 months old are outside up off the ground together. They should be fine as long as you have a few together. Just remember to watch them as some of these nights begin to get around the freezing mark.

I like hearing what everyone is going to bring. Here's what I'd like. If I had all the time in the world, I'd love to build a nice chicken compound were each building connects to the other with a place to free range in the center

Welsummers
Cochin frizzles
Ameraucanas or EEs - do they come in bantam sizes?
Different colored Marans
Speckled Sussex
Polish!
faverolles
Hens that lay dark cream colored eggs - any suggestions?
white faced spanish, too.
mottled houdan
D' Uccles Mille Fluer

And who on this thread sold a chick with blue ears? That sounded neat too! what's the name of her?

oh I just have too many I'd like!

Oh boy, I need to stop now because I just got out my chicken catalogs - too...tempting ;o ooooooo noooooo Mr. Bill...............

Hey Brandon, What do ducks eat and need for shelter? Do they go in with the chicks at night? We have nothing but horse fencing, and that wouldn't work for them. Ducks are fun. Your wheaten and blue marans sound really tempting!!

Sorry I'm sounding funny - just took an Ambien for sleeping and it's making me hallucinate! I'd better go to bed before the keys start dancing...lol

Are they chicks or started pullets? Right now I'm still learning so I'd prefer to get girls, if possible. Do you have the hang of sexing your chicks yet, or is that something that a super large hatchery specializes in? I was tempted to buy that 'sexing your chicks" book (or something like that) from McMurray. Has anyone tried using this book to sex their chicks?

As you can tell I'm still 'dumb' when it comes to chickens, asking silly questions LOL. I haven't tried brooding or hatching yet, so I have a new wonderful experience awaiting me. I'm thinking I'll try chicks first, then when I get the hang of that, try hatching when I eventually get a standard sized roo. (My little one is a BB OEG bantam).

Mine are all chicks but I'm sure we can find someone at the swap who can help us sex. Brandon and Heather are good at feather sexing. I stink at it LOL
