I have it stable at 60% so I will candle before i put the egg in and see where it goes from there!

Just the one egg due in two days and I am already dancing around my incubator willing it to hatch early!! I will update as soon as I have news!!
We desperately need another chick to keep our lone silkie chick (2 weeks old) company!!

But I have been collecting some eggs from my pekin and silkie girls, got silkie and pekin eggs in the post also!! I have spent far too much time and money for a first run... but its all too exciting

Plus i get my student loan soon anyway and I think spending it on chickens is far healthier than spending it on booze!!

Also have £35 ($50) worth of eggs (24 bantam eggs) arriving tomorrow (including postage from 4 different sources)

Hey guys trying to not start a million and 1 threads with al my questions so putting them all in this one!!

I woke up this morning to find the long awaited silkie chick has pipped at the wrong end!! She's pipped almost in the middle of the egg

I don't use the carton to hatch shes just sat on her side in the egg....

will she be ok in in there or will she have drowned? I wish I could help her!!

I've had that happen. It should be fine. I called mine a backwards zipper. lol It was smaller than the rest and survived just fine. She caught up in size when she was 4 months old.

Thanks for that I feel a little calmer now. Just now praying that she makes it out okay!!
Poor little egg... the bator is sat in the office with me so i'm armed with my cups of tea, some work to do and a camera. I will keep you posted.
Anyone else have "backwards pippers and zippers?"
