One of my girls has been shaking her head a lot today, not the adorable excited vibrating we usually get but more like she's got something stuck in her bill? She keeps making a sort of chewing motion too like she's eating when she's not. I've given her water and grit but she's still going... Has anyone seen this before?

Some of my chickens do a back and forth upward head motion when ever they eat bigger pellets or other foods. But generally they do it for a second and then they start eating again. So they only thing I can think of is give him/her water and maybe smaller food.

This is a Duck thread.......Not Chickens.....

Cheers!

I think in this case there's enough similarity that I found your comment helpful.

It does seem something may be stuck . . . one case I recall, a duck had a pierced earring stuck in her mouth, so check to see if something has pierced the duck's mouth...

Thanks

Thank you so much for the comments, it was really weird sort of side to side motion but she stopped after a while and stayed close for a long cuddle with my mum (her favourite) She's been fibe today so we're just keeping an eye on her now.
