Odd cockerel

Is he thin? Generally when they are sick they are easy to catch.
No, actually he is large,robust,and energetic. Largest BO. I was curious as to whether this may be the possible beginning of a mood shift for him. He is the alpha and a bully to my other boy…..and the hens for that matter.
 
Keeping his distance from you is a good thing, bullying the hens is not.
But....he could be exhibiting this behavior because of the other roo/cockerel especially depending on how many hens/pullets are there. Separating the lesser for a period or permanent may solve this, or it may not.

Of course the one Cockerel, the beta, is the one we would want to keep. He's a bit more of a gentleman and more sociable overall.
