Any ideas what color cochin this would be. It seems to be a splash of some kind. I actually saw a silkie from England i beleive that was this color but i can't remember what they called it.

I would say mottled, too. Never saw one so white before. You should sell her to a fireman as a mascot!

I would say really nice splash.... Mottled usually is more 50/50 I think colorwise.... I have a couple splashes that are nicely marked like this

Oh Danny, she is beautiful. I want her!!! So far I have a Buff, Black and Blue Cochin. My Blue is a lap bird, her name is Missy Gray. She doesn't mind sitting and being loved.

What color were the parents? I wouldn't say it's splash, splash is 'usually' a dark grey with black specks, though it can be white with black. I've not seen white with black splash on cochins.

Splash has a blue to white background colour marked with irregularly shaped randomly placed splashes of dark blue pigment.

Paint has solid feathers--each feather is ALL white or ALL black. It is genetically unrelated to splash. Genetically related to exchequer.

Mottled is a black bird with white spots at the tip of the feathers. Genetically related to exchequer. As a mottled bird ages it will become whiter. Chicks start off mostly black.

The chick in question does not appear mottled.
