Odd duck behavior - jeuvenile mallard

My jeuvie mallard will often do this in the water:

Just wanted to get your thoughts on why he does this, and what the wide opening of the mouth means.

I'm new here, so thanks in advance for any insight!!

Don't worry he's just bathing, and probably burping(you do that when you accidentally swallow water you know

It is! I rescued him and his siblings a few months ago, and they would never put their legs up in the air like he does. They were much more delicate bathers, haha. They flew off over the course of last week, and this guy is still hanging around. Just wanted to make sure none of his goober bathing ritual was problematic
