Odd eggs

Quote: Genetics tend to exacerbate themselves with each offspring hatched. So you wouldn't want to breed a bird that lays a very thin shelled or funky shaped egg because this issue will get worse with each generation.

But all this being said, make SURE all the layers have access to extra crushed oyster shell as the lack of calcium can cause funky eggs. If the extra calcium doesn't change the quality of the egg shell and of course they are on a good quail diet, then this is definitely genetic and this bird shouldn't be used for breeding.

If the eggs where square they would stack easyer . Can maybe try crushing up some chicken egg shells and mixing in feed or scranbed egg to feed them for calcium .

My quail have been laying brown with dark brown polka dots, I had several blue green eggs with no polka dots, and I am interested to see they hatch. They are in the incubator right now.
