Odd Laying Places Contest!!!

To Chicken Frenzie:

"On top of six-foot hay bales!" So funny! I pictured a little Buff Orpinton shuffling around, pressing up against the imaginary wall, and dropping an egg right there on the hay bales.

To Sumi: In. The. Sewing. Basket!

Egg collection must be very fun with house chickens!!!

Several of our Serama hens were 'ratted out' by our rooster for laying on the roof of the house! Talk about having to go to extremes to get breakfast!!

I got out the ladder and we had 8 eggs up there......little stinkers! Our roo wasn't a dummy...he was serenading them in an egg song from the ground

Here's some pics as promised: Indi in my sewing basket, Marilyn in the unused (except my chickens) basin and eggs in my clothes drawer

I've got a hen who hatched some ducklings 4 months ago, they've got a shallow baby pool for swimming, well mama hen would stand in pool when the would swim. Monday I noticed her sitting in the water, I went back 30 mins later and she was singing and sure enough there was an egg in the pool!

I've also got a small banty that lays her eggs in a hole in a tree 30ft off the ground!

Laying on the roof?? This is making my Williams-Sonoma straw bag story look wimpy...!

The cute factor on the Williams-Sonoma bag is the difference, though

I think I have pictures somewhere of the roof debacle, but they mostly consist of my DH taking pictures of me getting on the ladder for breakfast

Hi, everyone! I'm updating with the three in the lead right now. I believe we have about seven entries right now. This does not relate to individual contenders, or multiple laying places in one post.

Currently in the lead is Wildriverswolf90's "Egg in the baby pool", second is Pdx2Phx's "Egg on the roof", and in third, Sumi's "Egg in the sewing basket.

But the contest isn't over yet, this is not the final choosing. I'll pick a top three, along with a few Honorable Mentions, when we have twenty entries.

Just went through our pics and found these two:

This used to be the inside if a spin dryer. It's now used to prop up our satellite dish, as our mud brick walls can't take the weight.

And the ever popular bed...
