Shouldnt there be only one membrane in an egg?
The reason I ask is because I have a hen hatching about eight eggs right now and one chick required "help".
Standard pip in the shell 24 hours ago the nothing. I could hear the chick but no progress! I started peeling the shell away and noticed that the membrane had not been breached so I pricked the membrane, pulled it back and lo-and-behold another membrane! I pulled that one open slightlyand a healthy chick popped right out! Ive never really paid attention to it before....are 2 membranes normal?
