I'm on day 6 of incubation. I candled the eggs best I could they are darker eggs. But what I can tell so far is that they are too dark to see much but most of the eggs are showing half the egg is dark long ways. Most egg candling photos I see are either dark on the large end or the small end mine look different they are dark from top to bottom all on one side I managed to find some spider vains on a few that were lighter in shell color and a few that are totally clear. I'm guessing the totally clear are not fertilized. I plan to run the hatch fully through but I'm a little worried about the eggs that are dark along the one side the few that I can see some veining are like that too. This is my fist time hatching and wondering if there is anything I can do? They are hand turned and timp/humidity have been in normal range. 99.6-100.2 should I try to stand them up? Regardless I will still follow through with the hatch but answers would help my mind from pondering it so hard. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏

It’s fine, let them sit in the incubator...we had this happen and the hatch rate was pretty good. Don’t just take my word for it though, as I only hatched quail once...

First time hatching quail....mine are on day 18 though....but when I candled them they did the dark spot thing like yours...so far they are still developing. They are bob whites so it’s super easy to see...

I haven't ever hatched or candled eggs ever I'm just over excited about this and want to candle so I learn what is happening during the process. So I had looked everything under the sun b4 I ever even ordered eggs. So I had a basic idea what I would see so when I saw half the egg dark from top to bottom I hadn't seen that anywhere so was confused but I want to see what happens that way i know for future reference what the possibilities are. So far I can't see any defined air sacks on any of the eggs either and I know it's still early today being day 7. I do believe tho I have two that are not going to develop they look very clear. Regardless this is very interesting and I'm looking forward to getting into genetics and breeding for traits. But wish there were more photos of quail egg candling possibilities out there.

Candled the eggs and I have three I keep checking bc they are the three I thought looked like they were growing and tonight one of the three has rotated so now it is not dark long ways. It now only dark on the fat end so maybe they are getting positioned? More veins are visible as well on those three. So looks like they are just working things out in there!
