Odd shaped aircells, uneven in form

Are odd shaped or uneven aircells a sign of humidity problems? Maybe the humidity is too low? It's only showing in a few of the eggs, not all of them.

Are they shipped eggs? I usually only have that kind of air cell with shipped eggs.....not my own.

Yep, they were shipped eggs. I've had them before, and they were shipped eggs too. I thought I might ask to see if there was something I could to do fix it. It's so stressfull!

I did let the eggs rest a good 12 hours (overnight) before setting them. I have eggs from my own flock, so I've been trying to judge the humidity by looking at their aircells. I suspect my humidity gauge is off. One will read 60% while the other will read 30%.

I think it's one of those problems that shipping does to the eggs. Sometimes mine hatch and sometomes they don't. I don't know of anything you can do to correct it....wish I did!! I really don't think it has anything to do with your humidity.

I've had some hatch and some that didn't, cest la vie!

Is the price we pay when gambling on fragile shipped eggs. That we can get them to hatch at all is a miracle!

It's a shipping thing, Tara. It was the main component, I believe, in many of mine not hatching this time around. Some were wildly shaped.

I thought so, especially after Katy asked if they were shipped eggs. That I get any with stable aircells at all is a blessing.

It's just disturbing to candle and see those odd shaped aircells. There are chicks developing, just gotta hope for the best! Being tossed, shaken, and stirred in transit isn't easy on them.

Thanks Cyn! By the way, I have some very fine boys growing that came from your eggs. I also have one that I'm gender confused on, more of a silvery color but girly over all. Must have been a Lexie baby.

I'll get pictures if it isn't raining when I get home tonight.

I know I got at least one from Lexie, might have two. The rest were from Mandy, 'cause Ivy's didn't make it.

Oh and Charlotte's baby's beard is getting more apparant and so are his muffs!
