Odd symptoms in Rooster.

I have a 1 year old bantam roo exhibiting a mixture of symptoms and I wanted to see if anyone could help me diagnose something. One day earlier last week I noticed one of eyes was very puffy and completely sealed shut. The other eye totally fine. I left it for a day seeing if it would change on its own and it didn’t so I started to pry it open once a day and do a few drops of colloidal silver in it. He then developed one random spot on his comb so I quarantined him with food and ACV in his water. Well, over the last few days the eye has gotten progressively worse and the tips of his comb are now turning black!! Any idea? I will add a bantam hen in his flock has also had some eye issues where it will be watery/bubbly pretty consistently. But the previous owner (a friend) told me it’s always been like that and nothing ever came of it. No other symptoms. HELP!

If you can find some terramycin (it’s an ophthalmic antibiotic cream) I would smear some on his eye and keep him separate until it heals. Chickens may peck at it bc it will be shiny. The tips of his comb appear to be frostbite; he may not be getting enough ventilation in his separation enclosure. However, fixing the ventilation should work; no need to mess with the comb. Take the water out of the enclosure at night and give it to him first thing in the morning.

He may have a respiratory disease besides the mild frostbite on his comb. Eye bubbles, swollen eyelids, and eye drainage are symptoms of mycoplasma (MG,) a chronic respiratory diseae. Tylosin, doxycycline, oxytetracycline may treat symptoms. You may get those here:

I would also clean the eye twice a day, and apply the Terramycin eye ointment or if you cannot get that, plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment. If you see any pus, that needs to be removed. Here is some reading about MG:

Hmm, has he recently fought with any other roosters?
What does the eye look like under the eyelid, if it's kind of gray/cloudy, he maybe blind in it.
If you can get a picture of the eye itself, that would be helpful.

I’d be more inclined to think MG if he was having the respiratory symptoms. No sneezing runny nose labored breathing or ratting chest noises. It’s truly just the eye and the comb. I’ll definitely look more into it though, thanks.

What does the eye look like under the eyelid, if it's kind of gray/cloudy, he maybe blind in it.

Not that I know of. He is truly top dog around here. I have a few other males but they are all only about 3 months old and haven’t tried anything with him that I’ve noticed. I’ll get a better pic of the eye tomorrow.

Ok, so if he's not fighting with anyone, that's good.

Now, as for the comb, you might have to talk to another person, but I have experiace with blind roos.

I went out to check on him and the eye seems better. He had it opened on his own. It doesn’t look cloudy to me.

Are his eyes brown or orange?
The eye doesn't look blind, which is very good.
