Hi... I finally got worried enough. My two oddest birds in the coop: Ursula: a ten pound previously healthy Cuckoo Maran, and Marla: a half breed of game bird and chicken, have gotten... ill?
They are both broken out on the comb, wattles and face. They're... odd. Hard, yellow, no bleeding, no pus. I'm very worried, because Ursula can no longer see out of her eye due to a wart? in her way.
Both birds are happy, wandering around, eating, doing normal chicken stuff. Ursula doesn't walk much, but she's nearly all black and ten pounds. She's got little feet. I wouldn't want to walk either. So, she's totally normal.
Well... Other than this strange affliction. Other birds have smaller breakouts, but they healed up... I'm afraid to pop them, because I'm not a vet, and these are my two favorite birds. Below is Ursula, in the first two, and Marla in the last.
By the way, I'm in Texas, so it's 100+ degrees. They're a little exhausted.

Looks like fowl pox.. The sores will dry up and form a scab. Much like a cold sore on people.

Keep them comfortable and make sure they eat and drink. If it gets in their eyes it will leave yellow gunk that you will need to flush out to save their eye sight.

If they make it thru the good news is they are immune the rest of their life from getting it again... Good luck!

Oh, thank you! Just in case, though. What would I flush their eyes with? Thank you, thank you, thank you. Eight years of raising birds, and I've never had this...
