I have six chickens, three are Australorp's and three are White Leghorn's. I got them when they were three days old. I have now discovered that two of the Australop's are roosters! All of the rest I believe are hens. Oddly enough they still want to all roost together in a small space. I have plenty of room for them to roam around and perch, but they were rather be on top of each other. Is this normal? Also They have a chicken run that leads out form their pin in the barn, but rarely spend much time out there. I am going to have to weed eat the area because they aren't doing much scratching out there and the grass is getting high. They are two months old.

It is normal for young chickens to snuggle with each other, when they don't have a mother hen, this makes them feel safe ( also keep them warm ) How old are they? My chicks are usually happy in their coop, until they hit 6 weeks, then they want out and NOW lol. I would mow the lawn, even if they start eating the grass, if it's too long, they could get impacted crops from it.

Well usually roosters don't start being mean to each other until they start mating, And if they are mating sorry can't help you

I would place them in the run to forage, until they get used to it, I know mine for the LONGEST time were scared to go outside, but then I started placing them out, and now I can't get them back in lol. The roosters should be fine for a while yet, and sometimes, since they were raised together, they never get aggressive with eachother.
